Inter could resume their pursuit of Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez during the January transfer window should Matias Vecino leave on loan for Genoa.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that Vecino could join the Griffone on loan next month and that this would prompt the Nerazzurri to move for Nandez.

Vecino currently looks to be the closest player to the exit door at Inter, with the 30-year-old having struggled for playing time so far this season.

A move to Napoli looks unlikely for the midfielder, but a loan to Genoa now looks to be a possibility.

Should the Uruguayan make the switch to the Ligurian team, then Inter would move quickly to try and bring in his national teammate Nandez to replace him in midfield.

The Cagliari midfielder had been a target for the Nerazzurri during the summer, but they were unable to reach an agreement with his current club.

However, Inter could return with a similar offer in January for a paid loan with a purchase obligation and hope to convince the Rossoblu on a move.
