Italian Journalist Giancarlo Padovan: “Roma Would Have Given Inter More Of A Game If They Played Today”

st Giancarlo Padovan believes that Roma would have been likelier to get a result against Inter had the two side faced with the Giallorossi in the form they’re currently in.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Padovan suggested that Roma are beginning to look more like a team with an identity compared to when they were brushed aside by the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s 3-0 win against the Giallorossi at the Stadio Olimpico was one of their most impressive results of the campaign, with the team dismantling a top-half side away at a tough stadium.

However, the scoreline had the caveat attached to it that the Giallorossi were without a number of key players through injury or suspension, while their game plan appeared confused.

Against Inter’s Scudetto rivals Atalanta, by contrast, Roma looked incisive in how they executed their counterattacking tactics, and Padovan feels that if that version of them had met the Nerazzurri they could have been more competitive.

“If they were to face Inter I’m not sure that they could win, probably not, but they would be a different kind of opponent, another type of match,” he stated.

“Because the message that Mourinho has been trying to get through to his players has finally been received,” he added.
