The “Yes to Preserve Meazza” committee opposed to the demolition of the San Siro is planning an appeal to a Milan court in order to hold up Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium plans.

This according to a statement by the committee, as reported by FCInterNews, which states that the appeal will be presented to the municipal court by January 4, 2022.

Inter and AC Milan are pressing forward with their plans to build a new stadium in the city to replace the San Siro, with the clubs feeling that it is necessary to modernize their infrastructure and increase revenues.

The clubs received a go-ahead on the project in the form of a resolution from the city council on November 5 approving of their plans within certain guidelines.

However, the clubs’ plans are not without opposition, particularly regarding the proposal to tear down the existing San Siro to make way for the new structure.

The “Yes to Preserve Meazza” has become one of the main opponents of the plan, and their latest move to hold up the construction of the new stadium and tearing down of the existing one will be to file a new appeal, which their lawyers are drafting.
