Former Inter defender Daniele Adani believes that sometimes midfielder Marcelo Brozovic can come in for criticism due to his body language which can make him appear lazy or disinterested.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former defender compared the Croat to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba who is also subject to criticism for his body language at times.

The way that footballers behave on the pitch can often be scrutinized by fans and the media, with players’ reactions to difficult situations, to being substituted, and so on being interpreted as indications of their mood and temperament.

Despite the workrate that is evident in his contributions and the amount of energy that he expends while he plays, Brozovic is sometimes seen as a player with a languid or disinterested style due to the way he moves around the pitch, a view with which Adani disagrees.

“He is a player who always knows where his next move is, and understands that he is central to everything,” he stated.

“He has always been criticized for body language that seems to convey laziness,” he went on, “a bit like Pogba because they are players who feel very confident in their own thoughts.”

Adani explained that “His is a football that binds all the players together into the possession move.. The defenders owe a lot of their participation in offensive actions to Brozovic who makes them secure in dominating the game: all his passes are bang on.”
