Inter and AC Milan have settled on the “Cathedral” design proposed by architectural design firm Populous for the new stadium to be constructed in Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the clubs will soon officially announce the selection of the project by the US firm for the stadium to be completed by 2027.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have been pressing forward on plans to build a new stadium in Milan to replace the San Siro, and a key aspect of the project has been making a finally selecting the design for the stadium.

The “Cathedral” design from Populous has been the favourite to be selected ahead of the design by the consortium of Manica and Sportium for some time but now the matter looks to be settled.

The clubs are set to announce the design by Christmas as they look to keep moving towards construction of the new stadium.
