Italian journalist Matteo Marani believes that current Inter midfielder has been a big loss for city rivals AC Milan this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the journalist gave the view that the 27-year-old’s absence has hurt the Rossoneri as their form has dipped in recent weeks.

Calhanoglu has proved to be a very impactful signing for the Nerazzurri, putting a tentative first couple months at the club behind him and starring in recent weeks.

The Turkish midfielder was named as Serie A’s player of the month for November, with his excellent run of form coinciding with a sequence of victories for the Nerazzurri as they surged past the Rossoneri and Milan to the top of the table.

Milan, by contrast, have not looked nearly as incisive in recent weeks as they had at the beginning of the campaign.

Marani stated that “Milanare missing Calhanoglu, he was decisive at time for them and now he is at Inter. He completed Inzaghi’s squad, he is doing very well.”

He went on that “Inter show great solidity no matter the opposition. They have the best of both Conte and Inzaghi, who deserves to lead a great team.”

“We have to wait for January to say if Inter will win the Scudetto,” he added. “January will be a terrible month for them, they have a complicated schedule.”

He added that “However, their show of strength is now almost impressive.”
