Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that Inter are not helped by the winter break coming at a time when they are in some of their best form of the entire season.

Writing in his editorial in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, Condo suggested that the Nerazzurri will wish that they could face the round of fixtures they have in January and February without the stop that could slow their momentum.

Inter have been the form team in Serie A since the return from the November international break, collecting six wins from six to leapfrog the likes of AC Milan and Napoli at the top of the table while playing good football.

The Nerazzurri are now mathematically guaranteed to go into the break as “winter champions” for the first half of the season.

After the resumption early in January, however, things are set to look very different for Inter, as they face all three of their top four rivals in a span of a few weeks in addition to games against Lazio and Liverpool in the Champions League.

Condo feels that this timing isn’t ideal for the Nerazzurri, stating that “Between January 6 and February 13 – on the eve of facing Liverpool – they will face Atalanta, Milan and Napoli in that order, preceded by Lazio.”

“The timing of the break isn’t great for them,” he reflects. “Today’s Inter are going at a pace that looks unstoppable in Serie A.”
