Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta feels that seeing his former side as well as Inter in a new stadium will be very positive.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri legend spoke positively about the proposed new stadium which he feels will be beneficial to both Milan clubs.

Inter and AC Milan are fully committed to the new stadium in Milan, which they see as necessary to modernize their infrastructure and increase their revenues so that they can keep up at the top of the European game.

Yesterday the two clubs officially announced the selection of the “Cathedral” design by US architectural design firm Populous, and they expect to start construction on it by 2023 with a view to completion by 2027.

Costacurta is happy to see this development, and feels that it will be a positive thing for the two teams to be able to play in the new structure.

The former defender admitted that he is “Very attached to the San Siro, having left a piece of my heart there” but further stated that “I’d like to see them in a new and modern stadium.”

“Inter and Milan have a different perspective,” he added, “playing in Europe it is easy to see the differences in their stadiums.”
