Former Inter and Torino midfielder Benoit Cauet expects the Serie A clash between his two former sides this evening to produce goals.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Frenchman gave his prediction ahead of the match.

Inter are the form side in Serie A at the moment, having surged to the top of the table with six wins from six since the return from the November international break.

However, the Granata are themselves in good form, unbeaten in their last four, and they will feel that they have the quality and organization under coach Ivan Juric to take on the Nerazzurri even at the San Siro.

Cauet believes that the match, both clubs’ last before the winter break, will be a high-quality encounter and that goals can be expected.

“Both teams will take the pitch to win,” he stated. “Nobody will be holding back.”

He explained that “Inter will obviously attack right away, while Torino, who have grown into a team capable of coping with these kinds of matches, will come to the Meazza and go for it. I’m expecting a lot of goals.”

Cauet also gave his thoughts on Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, stating that “I thought that he could win the league with a top team like Inter.”

“At Lazio he had done very well, building the squad and instilling a philosophy,” he continued.

“In Rome he won trophies,” he added, “and they always finished high up in the table. The Nerazzurri managers did very well to bring him in.”
