Inter CEO Beppe Marotta does not feel worried about the preliminary investigation into potential capital gains irregularities in transfer at the Nerazzurri in recent seasons.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of Inter’s match against Torino this evening, the executive insisted that there is nothing improper for the investigation to turn up and made clear that the club are calm about the matter.

Yesterday investigators with the Milan Prosector’s Office collected some documents from Inter and the Lega Serie A, namely financial statements regarding transfers to and from the club in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 season.

The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether any of the financial details were improperly accounted for, and whether the values of any players were over-inflated in order to falsely report capital gains.

However, Marotta is certain that nothing of the sort will come out of the investigation and that it will not pose any problems for Inter.

“Yesterday we issued a clear and explicit statement,” he explained. “I can confirm that Inter have always acted correctly. We are absolutely calm and are cooperating.”

On the issue of equality between Italian clubs in the transfer market, he stated that “At Inter, as with other clubs, we are used to debating these issues in the institutional venues, namely the Lega and the FA.”

“Accordingly, the principle of transparency must be followed by every football organization, and so I believe that this is the most reasonable answer to give,” he went on.

On the Nerazzurri’s form to finish 2021, Marotta stated that “I didn’t think that we would be in this position in the standings at this point in the season.”

“Credit that must be given to the club, to the directors, and to our coach who in a difficult moment proved to be a leader and ensure that the squad followed him, and he has done so extremely well,” he continued.”

Marotta explained that “This is a process of growth, and we are very happy with how it is going.”
