Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is satisfied with the win that his team got against Torino earlier this evening, though he felt that they could have been more clinical with their chances.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the coach noted that the Nerazzurri missed a number of chances to widen their lead in the first half of a match that they won 1-0.

Inter won their last two games 4-0 and 5-0 heading into the clash with the Granata, reaching the top of the Serie A table in impressive style.

Against the Granata, however, the Nerazzurri had to work much harder to ensure that they got three points, and especially in the second half a major defensive effort was called on right until the final whistle.

The Nerazzurri’s defense and a fine finish by Denzel Dumfries to find the bottom left corner in the first half were enough to give them the result they wanted, but as Inzaghi was keen to point out they had also created more chances in the first half.

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy,” he said, “but we did well, especially in the first half, where we could have scored more than one goal.”

“Then we risked little in the second half, and we managed the ball well,” he added.

The coach went on that “We played a serious game against a difficult opponent. I had talked to the boys and I had made clear that this was how it was going to be.”

Of the team’s impressive defensive effort, Inzaghi stated that “It all starts from the organization of the group. Our forwards had an excellent match, from Lautaro to Dzeko to Sanchez.”

“It all starts from them,” he explained, “and then it’s clear that we also have an excellent defense and an excellent goalkeeper. But credit must go to everyone.”
