Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that the arrivals of Simone Inzaghi and Hakan Calhanoglu came at the right time for the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Zenga hailed the importance of the duo to the Nerazzurri’s form this season and suggested that they have slotted in and provided exactly what the team has needed.

Inzaghi took over from Antonio Conte after the latter departed at the beginning of the summer, and the former Lazio coach has quickly gotten past a few early wobbles to impose his ideas and style at the Nerazzurri.

Inzaghi’s Inter are in fine form both in terms of their results and the style of play that they show, and the coach has looked to be exactly what the team has needed to move on from Conte without dropping their level.

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has been a key to this evolution, with the Turk playing his way into form and becoming a key player on both sides of the ball.

Calhanoglu came into the team in the summer as well, signing from city rivals AC Milan on a free transfer, and he has marked the team with his contributions in a way that has allowed Inzaghi’s tactical system to really fire.

“Simone Inzaghi and Hakan Calhanoglu were two correct solutions at the right time,” Zenga stated, “given that one had not yet renewed with Lazio and the other had refused to renew with Milan.”

“The important thing is to always find the solution to every problem,” he added.
