Former Inter midfielder Borja Valero has said that Inter remains the favourited to win the Scudetto again this season now that they are winter champions, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst in the studio with DAZN after Inter’s 1-0 victory over Torino on Wednesday night, via FCInter1908, the Spanish midfielder explained how the work done by the executives at Inter over the summer meant Inter stayed as favourites to win the Scudetto once again.

“We had it from the beginning. They lost very important names, but the management work was enormous and thanks to this they remain the favourites for the Scudetto. In addition, they are reigning champions, so it is inevitable to fight for that goal.”

The work that Borja Valero is referring to involves the quick decisions from the likes of Sporting CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio who quickly replaced Antonio Conte with Simone Inzaghi which proved to be an excellent choice.

They also had to find a way to end the transfer window with a major profit and a reduced player wage bill whilst still keeping the team as competitive as possible which led to Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi leaving the club.
