Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has highlighted the excellent turnaround in fortunes that Inter has had in the first half of the season, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media yesterday.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport after Inter’s 1-0 win over Torino on Wednesday night, via FCInter1908, the former Nerazzurri defender pointed out the way Inter have turned the Serie A table around after the early dominance of Napoli and AC Milan.

“With three points you can recover. Before the derby Inter were behind by seven points and now they are +4.”

Going into the match against Milan, Inter were seven points behind the Rossoneri. Now, they are four points ahead of AC Milan and are seven points ahead of Napoli thanks to a run of form that saw Simone Inzaghi’s side win seven games in a row.

AC Milan were 4-2 winners away at Empoli on Wednesday night but Beppe Bergomi feels this was a kind scoreline as Empoli were impressive.

“Milan’s 4-2 win is exaggerated, Empoli always played well, a result influenced by mistakes. Championships are won at Christmas. In the break you have to keep a level of training.”

As for Juventus, their recent upturn in form means Beppe Bergomi said: “Juve has climbed in the standings, they have more self-esteem because they are closer.”
