Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni has said that Inter were not at their expressive best against Torino on Wednesday night but they were strong in defence, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Whilst writing his column for Corriere dello Sport, Ivan Zazzaroni explained that Inter showed a different side to their game during the 1-0 win over the Granata on Wednesday evening at San Siro.

“Yesterday Inter was less beautiful and dominant than usual: however, it reaffirmed the solidity of its defence.”

Speaking more broadly about the situation that Inter find themselves in at the winter break, Ivan Zazzaroni explained that Simone Inzaghi can be pleased with the work of Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries as they have replaced Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi very effectively so far.

“At the end of the year, with four points ahead of Milan, seven over Napoli and five more than the Inter-Scudetto winning team, Inzaghi can celebrate Dumfries, his goal gave the victory over Torino, and Dzeko, who did the assist, as the replacements of Hakimi and Lukaku.

“The first asymmetric championship is commanded by the more symmetrical formation that stability and a good number of goalscorers can combine and also bring pleasantness on the aesthetic level.”

Inter sit top of the travel four points ahead of AC Milan and seven points ahead of Napoli which means they are the winter champions of Serie A.

Denzel Dumfries scored the winning goal against Torino in the first half.
