Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti has explained that Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is currently outscoring the entire AC Milan midfield, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Mario Sconcerti whilst writing for Calciomercato.com, Hakan Calhanoglu has got more open play goals so far this season than the entirety of AC Milan’s midfield which will be of major concern for the Rossoneri.

“One thing above all is the inclusion of the midfielders. They score very little: before Empoli, in 18 games the whole department had scored just three goals from open play. One for Tonali, one for Kessie, one for Saelemaekers. Even without penalties, Calhanoglu has scored one more goal alone, 4.”

The Turkish midfielder joined Inter in the summer from AC Milan on a free transfer and has found more consistency in recent weeks with the Nerazzurri.

AC Milan were ahead of Inter in Serie A for a large part of the campaign but in recent weeks their form has dropped largely due to an extended injury list.

They now enter 2022 four points behind Inter knowing that they have very little margin for error when i comes to dropping points if they want to win the Scudetto.
