Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti has said that Inter’s development has been the key factor this season rather than other teams regressing according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking whilst writing for Corriere della Sera, Mario Sconcerti explained that Inter have developed a lot this season and that is why they have only lost one game in Serie A this season.

“Milan are still far from Inter, the number of defeats weighs heavily, three against one; they have less overall balance. They lost many points in a month, but has remained alive and turning now with just one point less than last year. In conclusion, the difference with Inter did not depend on Milan but on the growth of Inter.”

Many have suggested that Inter are now four points clear because the likes of AC Milan and Napoli have gotten worse, but that is what Mario Sconcerti disagrees with.

The journalist was impressed by Inter’s performance against Torino on Wednesday night where Denzel Dumfries scored the only goal of the game in the first half. Mario Sconcerti is impressed by the Dutchman’s attacking prowess in comparison to Matteo Darmian.

“Inter was brilliant against Torino because they had a thorny opponent, very well organised who often kept in the box. The only goal came not by chance on the counterattack. Dumfries grows, who is less flexible than Darmian, but much more attacking.”

Inter are four points clear of city rivals AC Milan and head into the second half of the season as the favourites to win the title.
