Former Napoli midfielder Roberto Bordin believes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had a brilliant start to life with the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the former Moldova coach praised his Inter counterpart for the start that his team has made to the season.

The Nerazzurri had to get past a few wobbles in the early months of the campaign, failing to win their first two matches in the Champions League group stage while they fell seven points behind AC Milan and Napoli in the Serie A table.

However, as the season has gone on the team has looked more and more assured of itself, qualifying for the Champions League knockout rounds for the first time in a decade and surging to four points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

Bordin feels that the job done by former Lazio coach Inzaghi has been excellent.

“A month and a half ago it looked like Napoli or Milan would win the Scudetto,” he stated.

“With so many matches in quick succession things can change quickly though,” he went on. “Inter are very strong – they have won important matches, they are firmly in command.”

On the transition from Antonio Conte to Inzaghi, he stated that “The former did very well, the former Lazio coach had a big challenge living up to him.”

“The team is strong but also lost Lukaku and Hakimi,” he added, “Inzaghi is accomplishing something great.  They have improved in many aspects.”
