Former Inter defender Antonio Paganin believes that current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has dispelled any initial doubts about whether he would be the right fit for the club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Paganin praised the former Lazio coach for the way that he has settled in and gotten the Nerazzurri running since his arrival in the summer.

Inter wasted no time in bringing Inzaghi in during the summer when Antonio Conte decided to leave the club, capitalizing on the fact that the 45-year-old was at the end of his contract with the Biancocelesti.

Inzaghi had established a positive reputation within Italian football for his work with the Biancocelesti over more than five seasons, but it was not clear that he would be able to make the transition to the reigning Italian champions.

So far this season, however, the coach has put his stamp on an Inter team who underwent major upheaval in the squad over the summer, topping the Serie A table and reaching the Champions League knockouts while playing attractive football.

“They made a miracle considering the situation they found themselves in,” Pagain said of Inter’s summer.

“They had to replace their leader Antonio Conte and two decisive players in the form of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, in addition to Christian Eriksen being absent,” he went on.

“It was not easy to put things back together and fix the situation,” the former defender continued. “But today they are top of the table.”

Paganin admitted that “I was very doubtful about Simone Inzaghi’s arrival, because all these factors could make things very difficult for him, but instead he’s done great.”
