Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon believes that Ivan Perisic has been one of the key players to the Nerazzurri’s form this season.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Itasportpress.it, Bordon hailed the Croat’s importance to the team on both sides of the ball as well as giving the view that captain Samir Handanovic remains a reliable figure in goal.

Perisic had not been a guarantee to even stay at Inter over the summer, with the Croatian wing-back coming into the last year of his contract and a number of clubs interested in his signature.

However, the 32-year-old remained at the club, and over the first half of the season he has cemented a role as one of the most dependable figures in the team, making a big impact in both attack and defense.

Bordon considered who the key man at Inter has been this season, stating “Perisic without a doubt. He has taken me by surprise with his ability to attack and defend throughout the game, and his decision-making in the final third is excellent.”

Of the Nerazzurri’s overall form, he stated that “I saw them up close at San Siro, and Inter are dominant and fight for everything, they move as a single unit and everyone sacrifices for each other.”

Bordon also spoke of current Nerazzurri goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, stating that “Now everyone is remarking that he is playing well but for me it is not a surprise.”

“It is expected for a goalkeeper to have a but of a decline but Samir is a reliable part of this team,” he added.
