Inter target Lorenzo Insigne looks to be getting closer to an exit from his current club Napoli, but is likely to move to Toronto FC rather than the Nerazzurri.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Partenopei captain is increasingly tempted by the MLS club’s offer despite interest from the Nerazzurri.

Insigne’s current deal with Napoli is set to run out at the end of June 2022 and an agreement looks increasingly unlikely on an extension.

The player is standing firm on wanting an increase in salary from the net €5 million per season which he currently earns while the Partenopei have not gone up from their offer of a four-year deal with €3.5 million net per season.

Tottenham Hostpur have been reported as one possible destination for the 30-year-old though they have denied it, while the Nerazzurri are still monitoring his situation.

Insigne had been among the Nerazzurri’s major attacking targets during the summer before they moved onto other players, but they could resume their pursuit of him on a free transfer next summer.

However, with Toronto putting forward an offer worth a net of €7 million per season, Insigne is increasingly convinced that they would be the right move for him, especially given further economic possibilities involving image rights.
