On-loan Inter striker Sebastiano Esposito’s time at Swiss club Basel could come to an end prematurely, with an exit in January possible.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the 19-year-old could move clubs during next month’s transfer window after a string of recent controversial incidents with Basel.

Esposito had a good start to the season in Switzerland after settling upon Basel as the right destination at which to continue his development after spending last campaign in Serie B.

However, the young striker has had some recent difficulties which really kicked off when he refused to come on as a substitute during the second half of his side’s Europa Conference League group stage clash with Qarabag.

Not long after, Esposito also got himself sent off for his involvement in an altercation against Grasshoppers late on in the match.

The 19-year-old apologized for the incidents in an Instagram post, asking fans and the club to “turn the page,” but he has become the target of ire for some Basel supporters, and it remains to be seen if the club will be patient with him.

Should Esposito be on his way out from Basel next month, it remains to be seen where he could move to.
