Arturo Vidal is set to stay at Inter until the end of the season, but then leave next summer when the club have the chance to terminate his contract.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the player will not depart the club during the January transfer window, but that he will not stay beyond next summer.

Vidal has not been a regular in the Nerazzurri team this season, with the Chilean having only made a total of three starts across all competitions with the 1-0 win over Torino on the 22nd his first in Serie A.

However, the midfielder has impacted games from the bench and could also feature more over the second half of the campaign as coach Simone Inzaghi calls on his bench more.

Further, the 34-year-old is likely to be in contention to start at least the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Liverpool with Nicolo Barella.

Vidal has been linked with moves to Flamengo and Tottenham Hotspur next month, but both of these are unlikely.

However, despite Vidal’s current deal expiring in 2023, the club have the option of terminating his deal in June 2022 by paying him a net of €4 million, and are likely to exercise it.
