Inter would only be interested in bringing in Everton left-back Lucas Digne in January if it is on a loan deal with an option to buy but not an obligation.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazurri would not be ready to jump in to investing the amount that the 28-year-old is valued at, €25 million.

Inter could move for a backup to Ivan Perisic during the January transfer window given that the only current deputy for him in the squad is Federico Dimarco.

Digne is one consideration for the club given that he looks to be unsettled at Everton and could leave the Premier League side as early as January.

The Frenchman’s agents are looking for a new club for him next month, with the Nerazzurri and Serie A rivals Napoli among his main suitors.

However, the Toffees value Digne at around €25 million especially given that his current contract expires at the end of June 2025, and the Nerazzurri do not wish to bring him in on a permanent deal or on loan with a purchase obligation.

Moreover, the 28-year-old would only arrive as a backup to Perisic initially given the Croat’s form and importance to the team.

Should the club not agree on an extension with Perisic past next summer then they would consider redeeming a purchase option on a loan for Digne that would take him on past June.

However, the priority is still renewing with Perisic to be the starting option past next summer when his current deal expires, and if an agreement were found it is not likely that Digne would stay on next season.
