Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Barcelona have all made inquiries about the availability of Inter defender Stefan de Vrij.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the trio of clubs have made contact with the defender’s agent Mino Raiola about a potential move in the summer.

Over a year ago Inter had promised an extension to de Vrij, whose current deal runs out at the end of June 2023, that would see him stay on until 2025 and raise his wages to a net of €4.5 million per season.

However, the renewal was put on stand-by due to the economic situation at the club and other priorities having to be attended to.

The club are still relaxed about the 29-year-old’s situation until at least the end of the season, but things could change next summer when he is a year away from the end of his current deal.

Should the Nerazzurri not be able to get an extension beyond the summer of 2023 wrapped up with the Dutchman then they could prefer to sell him while they are still able to monetize his departure rather than wait a year to let him leave for free.

Tottenham Hostpur are reportedly the club keenest on moving for de Vrij, with current Spurs boss Antonio Conte wanting a reunion with the Dutchman who he worked with successfully while in charge of Inter.

However, Newcastle are also seriously interested in de Vrij, while Barcelona are another of the clubs to have initiated contact with the player’s agent Raiola.
