Inter have made an offer to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to sign the 28-year-old but that they face significant competition for his signature.

Ginter’s current deal with Gladbach is set to expire at the end of June 2022, and no agreement has been found with the Bundesliga club on a contract extension.

The Nerazzurri are interested in making the German their second free transfer of next summer’s transfer window, after Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana whose signing they will soon make official.

However, a number of other clubs are also interested in bringing Ginter in without a transfer fee when his contract expires, and it remains to be seen if Inter will be able to beat out their interest and get a deal for him over the line.
