Inter have put aside the contract extension situations of defenders Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar to be dealt with in the new year.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the club will look to renew with the pair sometime in 2022.

Both de Vrij and Skriniar see their current deals expire at the end of June 2023, and the Nerazzurri do not wish to go into the final years of their contracts without having a clear idea of their situations.

De Vrij had been promised an extension until 2025, but this was before the pandemic and so it was put on hold as the club dealt with financial uncertainties and other priorities.

Now, the club are ready to start talks with the 29-year-old again, but will only do so when they have dealt with some other contract situation, while the same also goes for his fellow defender Skriniar.
