Legendary former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli still feels that Inter could stand to improve their squad during the January transfer window.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Altobelli suggested that there is still room for the Nerazzurri to strengthen, particularly in attack.

The Nerazzurri have not looked to have any real weaknesses to their squad over the first half of the season, having surged to the top of the table even while rotating the team and dealing with injuries.

However, they could still decide to try and improve things further, and the fitness issues that have come up across the forward line could suggest that one more addition to refresh things would give the team more security.

This is the view of Altobelli, who named some of the attackers who he feels would be well-suited to come in and improve this Inter team right away.

“It will be important to look at the club’s coffers before considering any signings,” he said. “The Directors will need to manage this period intelligently.”

“In any case Vlahovic would be the best signing they could get,” he added, “but it will be very hard to take him away from Fiorentina mid-season.”

He concluded that “I would bet on Joao Pedro, Berardi or Destro. Different characteristics, but all very good players.”
