Roma are targeting Inter midfielder Matias Vecino next month, but the Nerazzurri are not yet convinced to let him leave.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Inter still feel that the Uruguayan has a place at the club and are not likely to let him leave for free.

The Giallorossi consider Vecino to have the right profile to reinforce the midfield options available in their squad.

The 30-year-old currently earns a net of €2.5 million on a deal that expires at the end of June 2022, but he could be convinced to join Roma should they offer him a multi-season contract.

Inter, on the other hand, are not yet ready to part ways with Vecino, and would not want to send him away without a transfer fee even if it means getting his wages off the books.

However, the Nerazzurri are interested in Giallorossi midfielder Gonzalo Villar, and he could come the other way as part of a deal for Vecino.
