Former Marseille, Arsenal, and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has revealed that he had at one point been a target for Inter.

Speaking to French broadcaster Canal Plus, the Frenchman explained that then-Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini had tried to bring him to the club from City while he was still playing there.

Mancini won Manchester City their first league title of the Premier League era while working at the club in between his two stints at Inter.

The Italian coach was a fan of Nasri, and tried to sign the midfielder at both of the clubs he coached at after parting ways with City, the Nerazzurri as well as Zenit St. Petersburg, according to the player himself.

In the end, Nasri didn’t leave City for Inter, though he would go on to spend a season on loan with Sevilla before leaving for good when Pep Guardiola took over as head coach.

“We had some arguments, but afterwards he tried to bring me to both Inter and Zenit,” he stated, adding that “We’ve always gotten along since.”
