Inter has chosen Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij as the player to sell this summer to help the financial situation at the club, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, the Dutchman will be out of contract in 2023 which means the club must either sell him now or offer him a new deal to avoid letting him leave the club for free.

This situation coupled with the fact he joined the club for free from Lazio in 2018 means that he represents a major capital gain for the club if they can sell him for around €40 million in the summer.

The club also looks close to signing Matthias Ginter from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer who could end up being an economic replacement for Stefan de Vrij.

Mino Raiola has tried in the past to engineer a move to the Premier League for the Dutch defender.
