There are three primary reasons as to why both Inter and Juventus want to have the Supercoppa Italiana final postponed, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, both of the Serie A clubs competing in the match are in agreement that it should not be played on January 12 and should actually be moved to the end of the season.

This is partly because of the increase in Covid-19 cases amongst players which would diminish the spectacle as people won’t see as high quality a game of football as they were expecting.

Another reason is that stadium capacities are now being reduced to 50% which limits the amount of revenue that the two teams were aiming to receive from the match, a large part of why it was being held in Italy anyway.

The final reason relates to the celebrations that usually take place after the Supercoppa final which would not be possible or responsible with the current coronavirus situation.
