Former Italian football coach Fabio Capello has reiterated the fact that he claimed Inter would still be the title favourites despite the difficult summer window, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Il Messaggero recently, the former England National Team coach explained that despite the difficult summer that saw three main ingredients of the 2020/21 success leave the club, he still felt Inter were the favourites again.

“In August, when everyone was talking about an Inter reduced after the farewells of Conte, Lukaku and Hakimi, I indicated the Nerazzurri as the favourites for the Scudetto. And the facts are proving me right.”

Inter were thrown into disarray after winning the Serie A title last season as the major financial issues that the club were in became abundantly clear.

Antonio Conte decided to leave the club immediately which led to the swift appointment of Simone Inzaghi which has gone better than expected.

Achraf Hakimi was sold early in the summer transfer window but the sale of Romelu Lukaku, later on, caught many people by surprise and a title challenge suddenly seemed unlikely.
