Legendary Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has claimed that Romelu Lukaku has had his time at Inter and will not be back any time soon, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport about the sensational interview that the Belgian striker had with Sky Sport that was released on Thursday, Alessandro Altobelli made it clear that Inter has already moved on from Romelu Lukaku.

“He has had his time in the Nerazzurri, he has perhaps given even more than he could. But today is another Inter, who is playing a beautiful and profitable football in which everyone scores.

“It is true that he has not won anything yet, but the road is the right one and therefore Lukaku would do well to do more to make a difference at Chelsea.”

Another factor in why Alessandro Altobelli feels that Romelu Lukaku cannot come back to Inter is that it does not work out economically, and Inter sporting CEO Beppe Marotta will see that.

“Marotta will never take him. And I would do the same. Inter Milan cannot spend, and I exclude that Chelsea are so fooled as to give him out on a free loan. Marotta has not made a mistake so far. I think he will eventually make only small adjustments.”

Alessandro Altobelli then discussed the initial transfer to Chelsea from Inter in the summer transfer window that has just gone, claiming that he does not understand why the former Manchester United striker left an environment where he was so loved by the fans and the team.

“Had I been Lukaku, I would never have left an environment that adored him and in which he was very well. He was the king of Milan and of San Siro. If he had asked for something more, they probably would have given it to him.

“Instead today he finds himself with more money, but an immense disappointment. A part of the fans I think at first they would whistle him, but if he went back to what he once did, everyone would forgive him. I reiterated that I don’t think he has anything to be forgiven for.”
