Inter striker Edin Dzeko is hoping to be able to return to the team in time for their Serie A clash with Lazio.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Bosnian will miss Thursday’s away trip to Bologna after testing positive for COVID-19 but hopes to be cleared for their match against the Biancocelesti.

Inter were dealt a blow for their first match back from the winter break when Dzeko returned from his holiday and a test for COVID revealed that the striker had contracted the virus.

The 35-year-old is now outside the squad in training and there is no chance of his availability for Thursday’s trip to Emilia-Romagna to face the Rossoblu.

However, the player is awaiting a test which will find that he is negative for the virus, and his aim is to be back in the squad and ready to face Lazio in the Nerazzurri’s second match of January.
