Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is aiming to be back from injury in time to face Inter at the San Siro on Sunday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 33-year-old will miss the Biancocelesti’s first match back from the winter break against Empoli, but hopes to return in time for their Serie A clash with the Nerazzurri.

Acerbi picked up an injury in the Biancocelesti’s final match of 2021, a 3-1 away win over Spezia, and he is yet to fully return to fitness.

The defender will undergo tests today to determine how close he is to recovery, but Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri is hoping to have him back in time for the Biancocelesti’s trip to the San Siro to face league leaders Inter.

Acerbi is an important player at the heart of the Biancocelesti’s defense, and his presence in the team will be key for their efforts.
