Legendary former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi believes that the Nerazzurri have proved themselves with how they have dealt with a summer of upheaval and enjoyed success this season.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Beccalossi hailed the directors at the club as well as the coaching staff and the players.

The Nerazzurri knew that they were in for a difficult summer when Antonio Conte departed as head coach and Achraf Hakimi was expected to follow him out the exit door.

Things got even worse when Christian Eriksen’s health emergency at the Euros effectively forced the Dane out of the team, before the shock sale of Romelu Lukaku deprived the team of a player who had led them in both goals and assists on the way to the Scudetto last campaign.

However, the club worked tirelessly to replace those who left and to get the best out of the Scudetto-winners who remained, and are now top of the Serie A table at the halfway point of the season.

“I can clearly remember the things people were saying,” Beccalossi stated, “‘Inter are having a fire sale, they’re in shambles, they are facing a thousand problems.'”

“Steven Zhang chose the right people to manage the club though,” he went on, “the directors did an extraordinary job.”

He stated that “They are being proven right on the pitch. Inzaghi arrived and he was careful, integrating himself into the team perfectly. The results, both in the league and in the Champions League, are now there for all to see.”
