Inter-linked Penarol striker Agustin Alvarez is not likely to leave his current club during the January transfer window.

This according to the Uruguayan club’s President Eduardo Zaidensztat, who emphasized to Uruguayan broadcaster Sport890 that he will not leave until at least the summer.

Alvarez has emerged as a target for the Nerazzurri as well as for other Italian clubs such as Fiorentina and AC Milan as they look to reinforce their attack with young players with good potential for growth.

The 20-year-old has already earned a strong reputation in Uruguayan football for his performances this season, and a move to Europe has begun to look inevitable for him.

However, this could have to wait for a bit, as Penarol’s President has made clear that the club have no intention of letting any European clubs bring him in until the end of the season.

Zaidensztat was categorical in his words, stating that “It is a fact that Alvarez will not leave in January. If any club wants to buy him, it will be on the condition that he plays for the first half of the year with Penarol.”
