Inter are set to rival AC Milan, Manchester United, and Atletico Madrid for the signature of River Plate striker Julian Alvarez.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 21-year-old’s agent Fernando Hidalgo will be in Milan in the coming days.

Alvarez’s form has marked him out as a transfer target for a number of top European clubs, with the Nerazzurri among the teams with the strongest interest in his signature.

Alvarez’s release clause with River is €20 million, while his contract with the Argentine giants ends at the end of December 2022.

The Nerazzurri are considering the Argentine as a possible more affordable signing in attack than alternative target Gianluca Scamacca, especially given that due to the Growth Decree in Italy they would save on the taxes for his wages.

The club will meet with Alvarez’s agent soon, but rivals the Rossoneri will as well.

Meanwhile, Alvarez’s agent Hidalgo is also expected to be in both Madrid and London soon regarding the 21-year-old, with Manchester United and Atletico Madrid both stepping up their pursuits.

Premier League club Newcastle United are also interested in the Argentine, although the player is less interested in joining them than in the other clubs after him.
