Inter are targeting Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar on loan this month should other midfield options depart.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to move for the 23-year-old on a dry loan.

Villar has largely been out of favour under Giallorossi coach Jose Mourinho after having featured regularly under his predecessor Paulo Fonseca.

The Spaniard could be allowed to leave the Italian capital for the remainder of the season, and the Nerazzurri are tracking him for a move in the January window especially if other midfielders are to leave the club.

Matias Vecino could depart, while Stefano Sensi is another player who is linked with a possible move away.

Should room be made in the Nerazzurri’s midfield by the departure of players during the window, then Villar would be targeted on loan to back up Marcelo Brozovic for the remainder of the campaign.
