Inter are continuing to work towards the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach defender Mathias Ginter on a free transfer next summer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 28-year-old is one of the Nerazzurri’s main targets for the summer transfer window.

Ginter has announced that he will not renew his current deal with Gladbach, and that he will leave the Bundesliga side at the end of June when his contract runs out.

The Nerazzurri have been admirers of the German defender for some time, and are now ready to capitalize by bringing him in when he is available, reinforcing their defensive options without having to outlay a transfer fee.

The club are set to spend part of the January transfer window making inroads towards convincing the 28-year-old to sign next summer, when he is one of their primary targets to bolster their defense for next season and onwards.
