Italian journalsit Marco Barzaghi believes that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is serious about wanting a return to Inter.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, as reported by FCInter1908, the SportMediaset journalist stated that Lukaku told him personally that his hope is to re-join the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku’s candid remarks in a recent interview in which he expressed regret at departing for Chelsea during the summer have created a big stir.

Rumours have swirled on the possibility that the Belgian could make the switch back to the Giuseppe Meazza sometime during the coming transfer windows following his outburst.

There are significant obstacles to a move back to Inter taking place for the 28-year-old, and it is not clear that the Nerazzurri are keen on bringing him back in.

However, according to Barzaghi, the striker is still hopeful about the possibility, and such a move would be his preference.

The journalist stated that “What I can tell you, having direct family contact, is that his desire is to return to Inter, and he would walk from London to Milan if he head to.”

“From what we have verified, he only wants Inter,” Barzaghi continued, “because he is already tired of Chelsea and of life in London.”

He went on that “Chelsea would never let him move to Conte’s Tottenham. We cannot exclude anything, but from what we understand and from what he told my brother off the record, his will is only that to return to Inter immediately.”

“From an economic point of view it is not impossible as many are saying,” he continued, “given that in January Inter will get rid of Eriksen’s salary.”

He added that “If Chelsea pay half the salary, the expense would be around €6 million. Room could also be made in the budget.”
