Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti feels that Inter remain the strongest team in Serie A and the favourites to win the Scudetto.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Il Messagero in an interview published in today’s print edition, Ancelotti praised his Nerazzurri counterpart Simone Inzaghi and also gave the view that the team do not really miss Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter had a difficult summer, seeing Antonio Conte depart not long after guiding the team to the Scudetto, before Hakimi and then Lukaku followed him out the exit door.

After this transfer window of upheaval many predicted that the Nerazzurri would struggle to win the Scudetto a second time in a row.

However, this has not been the case at all, as Inter sit comfortably four points clear at the top of the Serie A table after half a season played, and Ancelotti feels that they owe this to their coach and to how they’ve moved past the aforementioned sales.

“Inter are definitely favourites to repeat their league title from last season,” the coach stated, “Simone Inzaghi is very clever and they have gotten past the sales of Lukaku and Hakimi without looking hurt by it.”
