Inter are close to agreeing a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Mathias Ginter to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ahead of the other suitors in the race for the German defender’s signature.

Ginter’s current contract with Gladbach expires at the end of June, and he has officially announced that he plans to leave for a different club in the summer rather than extending his deal with the Bundesliga side.

The Nerazzurri have been tracking the defender for some time, and they have moved by making him a 4-year deal worth a net of €3.5 million per season to join when his contract runs out.

Ginter looks to be close to agreeing to the Nerazzurri’s offer, which he considers to be more attractive than those that have come forward from other clubs.
