Lazio midfielder Sergej Minlinkovic-Savic has revealed that he had an excellent relationship with Inter boss Simone Inzaghi whilst the pair were working together, according to a report in the Serbian media.

Speaking during an interview with Serbian sports news website Mozzartsport, via FCInternews, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic discussed his time with Simone Inzaghi at Lazio and the way that his game developed thanks to the now Inter boss.

“I made great progress from all points of view thanks to him, both as a player and as a man. We had an excellent relationship, as far as his abilities are concerned, just look at his results at Inter.”

Simone Inzaghi was the head coach at Lazio for five straight seasons and looked set to extend that stay even further before Inter persuaded him to be the replacement for Antonio Conte at Inter.

Many at Lazio felt some betrayal at the sudden manner that the coach from Piacenza left the club but he received a warm reception when Inter went to the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the season.

Speaking about his future at the club, the Serbian kept his cards close to his chest but does not sound unsettled.

“I have been in Rome for seven years now and I am satisfied with how everything is going. Now I am two years after the expiry of the contract: we will see what will happen in the summer, how the club is and in which direction we will go. If there is something we will have to sit down and talk.”
