Inter are set to go head-to-head with Juventus for the signature of Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Scamacca, who gave an update on the situation with the 22-year-old on air.

The Bianconeri have identified Scamacca as a major transfer target as they look to bolster their attacking options, either during the January window or in the summer.

However, Inter have hardly cooled in their interest for the striker, and they are also continuing to try and secure his signature in talks with the Neroverdi even as the Bianconeri work to quickly wrap up a deal for his signature.

It remains to be seen how seriously the Nerazzurri pursue Scamacca, and whether they can beat rivals the Bianconeri to his signature, but according to Di Marzio, both clubs are still very much interested and still working to bring the player in.

“Sassuolo do not want to let Scamacca or Raspadori go this month,” he explained. “Sassuolo must replace Boga now, this is their priority.”

“Right now Scamacca is worth closer to €40 million than €30 million,” he added. “If a club were to offer them €50 million right now then perhaps they’d sell him, but I don’t see anyone ready to do that.”

He explained that “Juve want to find an agreement already and secure his signing for later, but Sassuolo would like to wait and see how his value changes between now and June.”

“Players do not generally come cheap from Sassuolo,” he elaborated, “the kind of deal we saw with Locatelli is not likely to be repeated with Scamacca.”

“Juve would like to get the player off the market in view of June already,” he updated. “Juve are aware that Inter are still rivalling them for Scamacca, and that his value can increase.”
