Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter and AC Milan are the two teams in serious contention for the Scudetto, while Napoli and Juventus are now focused on finishing top four.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, Sconcerti suggested that the Nerazzurri have advantages over their city rivals at the top of the Serie A table.

The chaotic return to Serie A action from the winter break, which saw four matches postponed including Inter’s away trip to Bologna, has added further drama and clarification to the Scudetto race.

AC Milan produced a convincing 3-1 win over Roma at home to draw within one point of the Nerazurri at the top of the table, albeit with Inter having a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Juventus and Napoli drew 1-1 in Turin, meaning that Inter can go even further out of sight for each, as the Scudetto race increasingly looks to be between the defending champions and the Rossoneri.

Of the differences between Inter and Milan, Sconcerti writes that “It is not yet the time to ask what Milan will look like at the end of May, Inter look to be stronger.”

He goes on that “I expect that Milan will grow under the guidance of Pioli, and that they will continue to show their quality and their stylistic identity even while deploying different formations.”

And of the Partenopei and the Bianconeri, he writes that “Both have proven themselves to be inferior to Milan at San Siro, and to Inter across the last two months.”

“But I think both Napoli and Juve are no longer thinking about the Scudetto,” he added, “getting into the top four matters greatly and I expect that will be their focus.”
