Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani believes that Inter are the strongest team in Serie A at the moment, but that their Scudetto challenge could still be derailed by injuries or bad luck.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Trevisani emphasized that issues such as fixture buildup and injuries could be enough to let the Nerazzurri’s main rivals back into the race for the Serie A title.

Over the first half of the campaign, the Nerazzurri did not start as quickly as AC Milan and Napoli, falling as far as seven points behind the pair, before a convincing run going into the winter break which saw them go four points clear at the top of the table.

Now, the Nerazzurri look to be in a stronger position than the two teams behind them, although this also partially reflects the difficulties which both the Rossoneri and the Partenopei have had with injuries since November.

“If Inter were to have significant runs in the competitions, or deal with the injuries that Milan or Napoli have had, who knows,” Trevisani stated.

He added that “The Nerazzurri have the strongest squad, they are the favourites, but there are five months to go and Milan and Napoli can’t be counted out.”
