Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi will not be available for the Biancocelesti’s Serie A clash with Inter on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 33-year-old has picked up a strain which will definitely cause him to miss Sunday’s match.

Acerbi had to be substituted in the 25th minute of Lazio’s 3-3 draw with Empoli at the Stadio Olimpico, and initial scans revealed a muscle problem for him.

The exact extent of the injury and the timeline remain to be seen, but there is no chance that the defender will be ready in time for the Biancocelesti’s trip to face Inter on Sunday.

Acerbi is a key defender for Lazio, and so Biancocelesti head coach Maurizio Sarri will have to work to compensate for the absence of a key man in his backline as he looks to keep Inter’s formidaable attack quiet.
