Inter could sell defender Stefan de Vrij during the summer transfer window should they not agree on a contract extension with him.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who report that the Nerazzurri are still some way from agreeing a new deal with the Dutchman, who could leave in June if the talks continue to stall.

De Vrij’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2023, but if the club are unable to find an agreement on a new contract they would prefer to sell him in the summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires.

There is still time for the club to work towards a new deal with the 29-year-old, but in the event that he does depart, they are planning on possible replacements for him.

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Mathias Ginter is currently being pursued on a free transfer next summer, and would be one of the main candidates to replace de Vrij.
